'All this will be yours, lad!' Ok, sure, and that's all great, but as life goes on relationships can become less clear, spouses can become ex, sibling can fall out, understandings become blurred. Its particularly keen when there's been a clear sense and unwritten agreement that working the farm entitles you to expect to inherit the farm.

Sometimes the reality of life with baby isn't quite what you imagined. And that idyllic life on a bush block that was a bit of a haven for a busy working couple starts to look pretty isolating for a new mother. So the opening of a new café can be about a lot more than just the coffee they serve!

These illustrations are for the October 2012 Child Magazine, for an article on the use of pets for therapeutic purposes, from comparatively mild cases of withdrawal to more serious emotional or developmental issues. Pets can be enormously helpful in helping children to relate to the positive aspects of the world around them, helping spark or nurture compassion, trust and a sense of responsibility or caring.
